In this recipe I will use Coconut Oil, St. John’s Infused Oil, and Shea Butter. Shea Butter and Coconut Oil have already been proven excellent for skin health. St. John’s properties only enhance this positive effect.

Coconut oil and shea butter are softening and St. Johns’s Wort reduces irritation and redness. I made St. John’s infused oil at home. It is very easy to prepare it – just see the recipe about how to make an infused oil with the cold infusion method.

I use this homemade butter for everything dry skin, face, rush, and protection. You can also use it for daily care. There are no artificial additives and it gives the necessary softness and moisture to the skin. This is true because as body butter, it is intended to be applied after showering to the whole body.

If you want a better scent, you can use essential oil. It is not included in the recipe video because I didn’t have any at the moment.

Also for preparing the infused oil, I used olive oil, but you can go with sunflower oil too. The sunflower oil makes the body butter to be more easily absorbed. WIth olive oil, this takes a little bit longer.

You have to be careful about allergies. Make a small allergy test by applying it on the palm and wait for 24 hours. If after that period itching and redness don’t appear, it is ok to use it further. Anyway, if you are not sure, consult with a health provider.

You will be needed bowl, hand mixer, and pan.

Instructions
  1. Prepare the ingredients in a certain amount.
  2. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  3. Place the deep bowl on top of the pot, but be careful not to touch the water. The heating must be steamed, so as not to destroy the useful ingredients.
  4. Add the shea butter, coconut oil, and St.John’s Wort-infused oil to the bowl.
  5. Wait for all the ingredients to come together and become one mixture.
  6. Remove the pan from the steam and continue to stir by hand from time to time while it cools. When the mixture starts to slowly thicken, add the essential oil, and continue to mix by hand. (This may take a little longer. If you can not wait, put it in the fridge or freezer for a while.)
  7. When the mixture is set up take the hand mixer and whip the body butter until the mixture is fluffy and stiff peaks form.
  8. Take a spoon and add it to a glass jar or whatever you want. Close and keep it to a cool and dark place. Like that, it will last from six months to a year.
